There are a number of concessions and rebates available to reduce your energy bills.

As a customer of electricity and/or reticulated natural gas purchased from Metered Energy, and are in receipt of one of the cards stated below, did you know that you may be eligible for a rebate of $0.9338 per day inclusive of GST on your electricity account and $0.1986 inclusive of GST per day on your reticulated natural gas account.

Your account will show the amount of rebate deducted.

If you are a consumer of electricity and/or reticulated natural gas not purchased  from a retail entity and reside in a residential home park or in multi-unit residential premises, you may also be eligible for a rebate, provided the proprietor of the premises participates in the rebate arrangements.  Details of arrangements for such situations are available on request from the proprietor of the premises. The electricity rebate allowed will be no greater than the amount billed for electricity consumed during the period for which the electricity rebate applies.

Am I eligible to receive Rebates or Concessions?
You may be eligible for a concession or rebate on your bill if you’re the primary account holder on your energy account and you hold a valid concession card.
You may qualify for various concessions that we can provide on behalf of the Queensland State Government.
  • Reside at your primary household

  • are financially responsible for the payment of the bill; and

  • are at risk of being disconnected and are unable to pay your debt

  • hold a current concession card, or you’re on a Metered Energy payment plan. You might also be eligible if your base income is no more than the equivalent to the Commonwealth maximum income rate for part age pensioners.

You will also had to have experienced one or more of the following in the past 12 months:
  • a significant increase in energy use because of unforeseen circumstances;  

  • a significant decrease in income, or higher expenses you haven’t been able to avoid;

  • a natural or family disaster, where it’s impossible to absorb the resulting expenses;

  • the cost of keeping your hourshold is more than 30% of the household income, or the cost of energy usage is more than 10% of the household income.

  • Repatriation Health Card – For All Conditions (Gold Card)
    and be in receipt of one of the following payments to be eligible for the electricity and/or reticulated natural gas rebate.

    Including Widowed Mother [AMS] Pension

    Special Rate T.P.I.
    Including Blinded Disability Pension

  • Veterans Affair TPI

  • Queensland Government Seniors Card

  • Health Care Card

  • Australian Government ImmiCard
